Reason For Being

What is the Bay Area, if not a hub for delicious and diverse foods?

Fog & Forks is a club of curious, hungry teenagers dedicated to discovering and sharing the most interesting foods and cuisines across the Bay Area. We’re driven by the belief that food isn’t just about what’s on the plate — it’s about the stories, cultures, and people behind it. In a region as diverse as ours, where you can find Burmese tea leaf salad next to Salvadoran pupusas or a pop-up serving vegan birria tacos, every meal tells part of a bigger story about identity, creativity, and community.

Our team comprises young writers, photographers, and food enthusiasts who explore the Bay’s hidden gems and everyday favorites alike, all with an eye toward accessibility, diversity, and authenticity. We spotlight cost-effective eats, family-run restaurants, and innovative chefs who reflect the spirit of the place we call home. Each post we publish is written by youth and for the youth — honest, unfiltered, and grounded in our own experiences.

Food has always been one of the most powerful ways people connect, and in the Bay Area, it serves as a bridge between generations, histories, and neighborhoods. Through Fog & Forks, we hope to amplify the voices and flavors that make our region so unique and to inspire more young people to see food not just as something to consume, but as a way to explore, appreciate, and celebrate the world around them.
